It's Official! 35MPH
Today I went over to Dallas' and installed my new speedometer and sprockets. With the help of Kate I was able to switch speedometer gears and can now tell just how SLOW I am really going. With my stock setup of 13/45 gearing I go 26mph, 17/45 I go 29mph, and 17/41 I go 38mph on the flats! My bottom-end speed has greatly suffered, but being able to go 38mph at the top-end is worth the extra peddling from the start. So both mopeds officially go 35+mph now.
Tomorrow I am going to remove my head gasket and see if I can gain any low-end power from the extra compression. It's really cool having a speedometer. I like being able to see how fast I'm going. What sucks though is my moped came stock without one so it doesn't have the electrical wire to power the light bulb in it. I guess I'm in the dark on that one.
One thing I realized tonight while changing sprockets is I need new TIRES! I am seriously hurting on the dry rotting. They both have a good amount of tread on them, they are just really cracked all over. I am definitely purchasing tires in the next week or so. Once the weather reaches 70 degrees I'm going to be riding none stop and need a safe ride. I will take pictures this weekend of both peds and put them online. Later.
